So I left the Uk for a new life in Spain, ditching the drizzly for a life on the mediterranean coast. For the first few days I was drenched in glorious sunshine, soaking up the rays that had been sorely missing from this year’s dismal British ‘summer’. Ok, so it was a little difficult to sleep at night in the heat, and suncream was a constant must. I’m also trying to forget the experience of a Spaniard pointing to my legs and mocking their pasty colouring on the metro, presumably in the belief that I didn’t understand Spanish. Oh and in case you were wondering, yes I have been here for several weeks now, and no, I do not tan. The chances of me being mistaken for a Spaniard are slim at best.

Anyway, I obviously haven’t yet lost the very British trait of talking about the weather, but more Vitamin D wasn’t the reason I decided to move here. In fact, I rather fancied becoming a translator, in addition to brushing up on my Spanish and maybe even learning Catalan. That and a complete lack of desire to try and find a job in the ‘real world’ in the UK, that is.

I digress.

So in summary I plan to share, with anyone who cares to take an interest, all of my musings about my new-found Catalonian existence. Or Barcelona Ramblings, if you will. Because of the Ramblas. Get it? I know, hilarious. More of that first class humour to come, don’t you worry 😉
